Farming innovation at one of Australia’s largest agricultural event

Agfest 2021, Australia's agricultural field day in Tasmania, was the perfect event for cashed-up farmers looking to get a technological leg-up on their competitors.

The award-winning agricultural field days saw an abundance of tractors, quad bikes, harvesters, and various other machinery on show for farmers to check out and buy.

The Agfest Committee, comprising Rural Youth Australia members aged 15-30, has spent endless hours researching, analysing, brainstorming, consulting, and finalising the event blueprint for the 229-acre (96-hectare) Quercus Park site to ensure it complies with health regulations and social distancing requirements.

For the first time ever, the three-day field days were extended to a four-day affair at Carrick in Tasmania’s north. This year, the annual event was completely sold out and boasted hundreds of exhibitors and attracted thousands of attendees, with numbers capped at 10,000 people per day.

AgFest Chairman Ethan Williams said in an Agfest 2021 post-event video that the occasion was a hit, and the youth organisers are looking forward to future events to come.

“We’re really happy to have Agfest back out here this year – it’s been a great year,” Mr Williams said.

“We’ve put in the hard yards. From all of us here at Agfest Rural Youth, it’s been great that the exhibitors and patrons have got behind us. We are so very thankful for them to come out and support us and we can’t wait to be back here in 2022.”

WFI have been insuring Australians since 1919, providing support and assistance when it’s needed most. And although we’re one of the country’s leading farm, business and strata insurers, we still believe in friendly, personal service – which was exactly what we offered to event goers of this year’s Agfest.

In support of our Partners, the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA), WFI shared a marquee with TFGA to provide a safe space for attendees to chat with WFI Local Area Managers and staff about the collection of innovative policies on offer.

TFGA CEO John McKew said the organisation’s partnership with WFI is invaluable to their members and the wider farming community.

“WFI are a valued partner of the TFGA, providing excellent insurance products and service to TFGA members,” Mr McKew said. “This was demonstrated on show at AgFest 2021 when WFI joined the TFGA at their site on Sixth Avenue, providing real time advice and assistance to TFGA members.”

To further support the Agfest 2021 exhibitors, the four-day festival was added online, allowing a global audience to browse the thousands of brands, products, services and deals on offer, all accessible via the Agfest website.

Next year’s Agfest will start to be developed once brainstorming sessions and feedback on this year’s event are completed.

As the good people to know, there's always someone you can call when you're insured with WFI. So, if you’re looking for tailored insurance or would like to find out more about WFI products, you can find your Local Area Manger here, call 1300 934 934, or visit
